The Inside Sales Representative will interact and collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams in engineering, sales, quality, manufacturing, shipping, and supply chain. Be responsible for assigned accounts including quotation processing and follow-up, order entry, and providing excellent customer service. The Inside Sales Rep will also be responsible for understanding and backing up other Inside Sales Reps as needed. Working in conjunction with the Vice President/Director of Sales Operations and Outside Sales Team.

Essential Duties:

  • Interacts with customers, interpret specs, prepare quotations, and process orders through the MRP system and keep the system up to date with any changes.
  • Must learn and understand the products quoted/sold and their use within the Transportation Industry.
  • Sends Sales Order Acknowledgement to customers and alert customers of any changes made to orders or promise dates. Prepare and supply additional documents as requested by customer at time of bid or ship.
  • Answer customers' questions about prices, availability, and product uses.
  • Provide open order reports as needed and process orders through customer portals if required.
  • Develop relationships with key clients, supporting long-term growth of the Transportation Market segment.
  • Be the champion for resolution of product issues and initiate claims process (e.g., quality, delivery, etc.) Address complaints concerning billing, assist finance with collection issues/invoice discrepancies.
  • Refer complaints of failures or product issues to designated departments for investigation.
  • Reviews and completes large contract forms with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Supports shipping on coordination of freight movements and other documentation required for domestic and international business to ensure monthly sales goals are met.
  • Follow set pricing levels on specific projects/quotes as assigned by V.P., Product Manager and/or Director of Sales. Keep up to date with commodity changes.

These are the general duties of the Inside Technical Sales roll , not a detailed description of all the work required. New duties and responsibilities may be required to meet the changing demands of the business.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • BS degree Business Administration or Engineering with experience in specialty wire and cable market preferred.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Excellent computer, oral and written communication skills required. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret specifications, terms and conditions, technical procedures, and adhere to governmental regulations and sanction laws. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, gross margins, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must possess the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively, to communicate effectively with customers, and possess good decisions making skills.
  • Demonstrated behavior focused on customer success and ability to work in a Matrix Team Environment.
    Solid understanding of internal and external economic factors such as costs, margins, and profit impact of decisions. Understanding of Incoterms, international trade regulations and payment terms, (Letter or Credit, etc.) Cultural competence and ability to interact with international clients.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position sitting, talking, looking at a computer, charts/graphs and performing repetitive motions.
  • Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25lbs.
  • Ability to collaborate with manufacturing team members as needed in an environment that can be noisy.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE when onsite.
